LIBERTY

A giant swan occupied the scarf hall at Liberty Store marking celebration of it's 150th year anniversary. The department store in collaboration with Leith Clark, a stylist, editor and Liberty lover has curated a selection of 150 items representing brands who define creative culture. The swan symbolzes the department store’s strong association with the British Crown.

I had the pleasure of working on the set itself from scratch and was truly amazed by the swan’s size,not to mention the craftsmanship we achieved. The swan team arrived just after closing, when the last customer had drifted out and the doors of Liberty’s clicked shut with a polite finality. It was impossibly large, it's neck arcing up toward the ceiling where the lights glowed dim and golden. Its feathers were not pure white, but carried faint shades, cream, pearl, and the softest grey as if they had been stitched together from forgotten fabrics.

It took the dedication of the entire team to bring this display to life. I worked on distressing purple shades for the swan house and even jumped in on the swan itself between breaks. It was an amazingly colourful experience Styling the set in store was the most pleasurable .At times, the entire store seemed to shift, as if we had awakened the energy of the room and in many ways, we truly had.
